This bell tower, also known as the Clock Tower, allows you to enjoy a 360-degree panorama of this magical city. Of Baroque and neoclassical styles, it has a height of 56 metres. However, the visit only reaches the bell tower area, about 40 metres high. It is built with limestone, Genoese marble and ostionera stone.
The Tower of Cadiz Cathedral can be accessed by ramps that have an average of 11% elevation and a capacity of 25 people. It takes five to ten minutes to climb. The access ticket includes audio guides in Spanish, English, French, German and Italian. Thus, almost everyone can get to know the history of this impressive monument in Cadiz.
This tower is known as the Clock Tower because in the mid-nineteenth century a clock made by the master José Miguel de Zugasti was added, considered to be one of the oldest in Spain. For many years it marked the time of the city of Cadiz until it fell into disuse in the mid-twentieth century. It was recently restored, respecting the original parts as much as possible. You will be able to see it as you climb towards the tower.
The place where the Cadiz Cathedral is located and the characteristic shape of the city allows you to see almost the entire city, the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Cadiz. All this makes it an experience difficult to forget.
At the viewpoint, we find five bells that, when the clock strikes, can be heard in a large part of the Old Town of Cadiz. These bells make a recognized sound for the people of Cadiz.
The Tower of Cadiz Cathedral was opened to the public on August 1, 2015. Since then, thousands of visitors have already passed through it. Visiting hours are Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
