Arcos de la Frontera is located near the well-known Los Alcornocales Natural Park, a characteristic natural place of great value in the Sierra de Cádiz.

Within the municipality we find numerous historical buildings that help to discover the rich history of the province. The Castle of Arcos, from the 16th century, or the Palace of the Mayorazgo, from the 18th century, are good examples of this.

Other buildings of great historical interest are the Ducal Castle of Arcos, from the 11th century and with an Arab origin, the Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Nieves and the Puerta Matrera, which survives over time.

The historic buildings that complete the visit are the Pósito, known for its unique architecture, and the San Juan de Dios building.

The most prestigious religious buildings are the Church of San Agustín and the Church of San Pedro, from the fourteenth century, and the Convents of La Encarnación de las Misericordias, from the seventeenth century. Capilla de la Misericordia is currently used as a building for events and conferences. In the Minor Basilica of Santa Maria, visitors can also enjoy beautiful views.

There are many monuments that you can find while exploring all spots of the municipality. Some of the sites that should not miss a visit are the Palacio del Conde del Águila, Plaza del Cabildo and the Casa de los Jesuitas.

In addition, there are several exhibition centres. Both the Pinacoteca Municipal y Jardín Andalusí (Municipal Art Gallery and Moorish Garden) and the current Interpretive Centre of the City of Arcos.
