The Castle of Aznalmara, also known as Castle of Tavizna, is situated on a hill that rises in the middle of a valley. It is around five hundred metres away from the Tavizna river. It belongs to Benaocaz.
The fortress is now in ruins, although you can visit a huge inner ward. It was formerly known as Aznalmara Castle, name under which it appears in several books of the era. Some of them are “Chronicle of the Catholic Monarchs” (Crónica de los Reyes Católicos), “Chronicle of Hernando del Pulgar” (Crónica de Hernando del Pulgar) and “History of the Catholic Kings” (Historia de los Reyes Católicos).
