Plaza San Juan de Dios is the Major medieval square in Cádiz. It has been the administrative and commercial centre of the city since the 16th century. It housed, until the construction of the Central Market, fixed stalls.
Open to the harbour and near the main wall of the old town, there are interesting buildings. Some of them are the City Hall, the Church of San Juan de Dios and the House of Miranda Pazos. In the last remodelling, and after completing the process of pedestrianisation, the monument dedicated to the politician Segismundo Moret was recovered. It was put on the same place where it used to be when it was inaugurated in 1909.
