The Ecomuseum of Water is located in Benamahoma, district of Grazalema. It constitutes an effective testimony of the uses that the inhabitants of the Sierra de Grazalema have given to the liquid element from Prehistory to the present day.
The Ecomuseum of Water is located in Benamahoma, a small village belonging to the municipality of Grazalema. You can find it in the famous Molino del Nacimiento or Los Capitalistas. It is next to the Majaceite river and next to the fish farm, where you can buy the famous trout.
Here you can see what use or benefit the inhabitants of the sierra, made from prehistory to the present, from the river or water.
The exhibition shows the ecological importance of the weather. Also, the circulation of water in the Sierra de Grazalema, the place with the highest rainfall index of the entire peninsula. You can also see replicas of traditional buildings. Mills were used for the extraction of olive oil and flour, millstones and other tools to textile processing, bakeries and other trades that, in the past, depended on water.
This exhibition is part of an environment with interesting attractions for visitors. These include the source of the river, a beautiful hiking trail along the river or an old textile factory that has been converted into a farm.
