The Llanos de Rabel Route is located in Grazalema and is ideal to do with children. During the route you will pass through a forest of Spanish firs. This is a route populated with Mediterranean vegetation and great diversity of fauna. It has a distance of about 6 kilometres and lasts about 2 hours. The difficulty of this path is low. This route is signposted. It is necessary to arrange a permit at the El Bosque Visitor Centre.
Thanks to the landscape diversity that the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park offers, we can find different routes. One of them is “Llanos de Rabel“, which is a firm and smooth route. It is ideal to do with children.
During the route we will pass through a forest of Spanish firs (pinsapos). This is one of the species of fir trees that border the Mediterranean Sea. They are only naturally in the Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja and the Grazalema massif. This is a route populated with Mediterranean vegetation and great diversity of fauna.
At the end of this path we can observe the Sierra del Pinar, where the only Spanish fir forest in the world is located: the Pinsapar de Grazalema. We can also observe the flight of birds of prey. You can see birds like griffon vultures, blue climber, common blacksmith, common whip…
On this route you will also see “La Garganta Verde”, another of the jewels of the Sierra de Cadiz.
Llanos de Rabel is closed from June 1 to October 31 due to the high risk of forest fires.
To this path we arrive from Grazalema taking the A-372 towards Benamahoma. After 1.5 kilometres, turn right onto CA-9104 towards Puerto de las Palomas. After having driven about 9 kilometres, the trail starts on a path to the left.
