The Santuario Reina de los Ángeles (“Reina de los Ángeles Sanctuary”) is located on the outskirts of Jimena de la Frontera (Province of Cadiz). It was built for the Franciscan congregation in the mid-fifteenth century.
Throughout its existence it has been expanded, reformed and occupied by other orders, and even evicted during the Mendizabal Confiscation.
Three elements stand out over the rest of the set. Its wonderful cloister, the bell tower and the image of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, which different documents date back to 190 AD. Moreover, this image was brought from Antioch to Spain.
