What to see in San José del Valle

In San José del Valle, a municipality located in the Sierra de Cádiz, you must see Los Alcornocales Natural Area​​ and the Guadalcacín Reservoir. The latter is known as one of the largest in the province, being points of interest of great landscape and nature value. Here you can enjoy unbeatable views and practise many activities of active tourism and leisure.

The historic buildings that this small town has are some ruins of a fortress of Roman origin, surrounded by a beautiful natural environment in which there is also a spring. It is known as Remains of Fortresses of Tempul and Birth of Water – Spring of Tempul. In Spanish, Restos de Fortalezas del Tempul y Nacimiento del Agua – Manantial del Tempul. You can also explore the Charco de los Hurones, a natural area with great landscape value.

When walking its streets you can admire the great Castle and Baths of Gigonza, an emblematic building of the town. The most important religious building in the municipality is the Old Church of the 18th century, a true architectural jewel.
