La Merced Auditorium (Auditorio de la Merced), in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (province of Cadiz), is a beautiful building built in the 17th century in the Proto-Baroque style.
Although nowadays it hosts cultural events, it was once a convent, which in turn replaced a former Hermitage. It was adapted to an auditorium in 1993, after being abandoned during several years.
Much of the goods that this building housed remain in the Ducal Palace today. One of its altarpieces is located in La Cartuja, in Jerez de la Frontera. The Duchess of Medina Sidonia ceded this building to the City Council in order to be used for cultural events.
