The Ermita de San Pedro (“Hermitage of San Pedro”) is located in the old Plaza del Perdón in front of the Parish of Ubrique. It is next to the Town Hall Square. It was built by Miguel de Olivares in 1801.
A strong epidemic that ravaged the province at that time, together with a precarious economy, made it a small hospital for all the sick at the beginning of the 19th century. This was thanks to the landowner Pedro Romero Montero, who founded it. Curiously enough, initially it had a purpose of Catholic worship.
Currently, the Ermita de San Pedro is the headquarters of the Plenary Hall of the City of Ubrique (province of Cadiz). It is also a place where they hold different cultural events.
