The Real Parroquia de Santa Ana (“Parish of Santa Ana”), in Gothic-Mudejar style, was built in the late thirteenth century in the district of Triana. Its construction came by King Alfonso X, as he healed of an eye disease by a miracle of Santa Ana. It’s popularly known as the Cathedral of Triana, despite not being a cathedral itself. It’s also the oldest church in Seville. The Capilla de los Marineros is very close.
The church was damaged after the Lisbon earthquake in 1755, so it was remodelled and the appearance of the east end and the facades changed. It has received several restorations over the years, the last one in 2010.
Outside, the three facades of the parish stand out, as well as the ceramic altarpieces.
Inside, the main altarpiece is a Baroque piece, made of gilded wood. It has within it a valuable collection of paintings. In the church choir, the organ shines on its own merit, in baroque style.
The Parroquia de Santa Ana guards an impressive collection of artworks, as the Virgen de la Victoria, the Cristo del Socorro, the Insignia Procesional and the Custodia Procesional.
