The Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (literally, “Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art”) is located in the Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas, also known as La Cartuja, in Seville (Andalusia, Spain) since 1997. Here mainly modern and contemporary art is exhibited. The official opening took place in 1998, although it was completed in 1990. In the museum you can admire more than three thousand works of art and a special architecture.
Established the headquarters in the Monastery of La Cartuja, its main purpose has been to promote contemporary artistic creations in all its manifestations. Therefore, countless exhibitions, seminars, workshops, concerts, meetings, concerts, film festivals and conferences are carried out here.

There are many interesting facts around this Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC). Here, the remains of Christopher Columbus rested for 30 years. It also was headquarters of Napoleon’s troops during the invasion, and worked as a porcelain factory until 1982. It was remodelled on the occasion of the Expo ’92 and became the headquarters of the CAAC a few years later.
