Parque de Magallanes, in Seville, is one of the greatest green areas of the Andalusian city. It has 40,000 square metres long and is located next to the avant-garde Torre de Sevilla.
In 2018, a new park opened in Seville: Parque Magallanes; “Magellan Park” (specifically, Parque Fluvial Fernando de Magallanes; “Ferdinand Magellan River Park”). It is part of the ensemble of the sumptuous Torre Sevilla, with the modern Centro Comercial Torre Sevilla (“Torre Sevilla Shopping Centre”) inside. The park covers 40,000 square metres and cannot be in a more suitable area: next to the Guadalquivir river. If you come with your family and you are looking for a lovely place to be in Seville with toddlers, you have found it!
Less than half an hour walk from the Seville Cathedral, you will reach this magnificent park, crossing the Cristo de la Expiración Bridge. Here you will find the Pabellón de la Navegación (“Navigation Pavilion”) and the Puente del Cachorro (“Cub Bridge”), plus a large number of paths to wander around, a 300-metres pergola for protecting the people from the sun, the Centro de Actividades Naúticas Triana (“Triana Nautical Activities Centre”) to practise water sports, and much more.
If you come with children and you are asking yourself where to eat in Seville with kids, there are many restaurants in the shopping centre.
As the great green area that it is, Parque Magallanes has more than 300 trees of different species. In fact, the idea of creating this park germinated so it was an example of environmental sustainability. That is why its drainage system is configured to make the most of the rainwater and thus favour better a management of it: no puddles and the rainwater is used to water.
Seville’s Parque Magallanes is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm during winter time and from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm in summer time. If you are a greenery lover and you enjoy being outdoors, Parque Magallanes is your place!
