In this new blog post we want to tell you about a new experience: a fun bicycle route with Actiba Mar y Aventura to get to know two very special spots of El Puerto de Santa María: its salt flats and the Parque de los Toruños. Hope you like it!
Get to know Actiba Mar y Aventura
Actiba Mar y Aventura was one of the first companies focused on active tourism throughout the province of Cadiz. It appeared in 1998, when this sector was barely developed in our land.
The services that this company offers are rather wide and varied. Their activities go from land activities like, for example, routes and bicycle rent, to multiadventure, nautical activities and different activities and summer camps with schools. They also offer company incentives.
In addition to these different activities, they also have four schools for the little ones. Apart from these different activities for children and teenagers, you can also rent what you need to enjoy all these nautical activities.
Our route by bicycle
We met with Juan Carlos, one of the owners of Actiba Mar y Aventura, at 9:30 a.m. at the El Puerto train station. From there, we traveled by van to the company office, located in the industrial park of this city.
Once we got there, we met those who would be our monitors: Dani and Sara. These two wonderful guides made us spend a pleasant day full of curiosities and detailed explanations about the different spots that we went through, as well as the flora and fauna that we would find along our route.
After the first contact, we started the route. It was a sunny day with a winter temperature but, with the first pedaling we began to warm up. The route was going to be about 35 km long by all the marshlands and salt flats of El Puerto to later go to the Parque de los Toruños.
As we said, in the first part we went through the salt flats and marshlands. With incredible views, we were able to stop and see a multitude of birds. Among those birds, the flamingos and the gray herons caught our attention. We were so lucky to enjoy this beautiful fauna a few meters from the big city.
At the end of this part of the tour, we had to continue through the Parque de los Toruños. It was a very special route since, according to what Dani told us and what we could see ourselves later, three different types of ecosystems could be seen in just 5 km around. On the one hand, the marshlands; on the other, the pine forests and, finally, the beach.
After going through the first two ecosystems we reached the beach, that receive us with beautiful views and low tide. Thanks to the low tie, we were able to continue our route along the seashore. It was a unique experience and one of the most beautiful moments that we experienced in our day with Actiba.
After leaving the Parque we came back to the office to leave the bicycles and finish the day. This bicycle route by El Puerto de Santa María and el Parque Natural de los Toruños was without doubt an extraordinary experience. We want to thank Actiba Mar y Aventura for their hard work. We recommend it!
