Nestled between the Sierra de Ronda and the Bay of Algeciras, its fortress dominates the hill on which a blanket of white houses descends. Populated since Prehistory, cave paintings are preserved at the Laja Alta Site. These are the only example of bronze scenes in Spain.
With the Muslim invasion, Jimena is reinforced to serve as a strategic spot. Its heritage legacy is headed by its castle, from the 13th-14th centuries (Cultural Heritage Asset).
