“El vino, alma de mujer” is a project that wants to show women in wine culture, turning them into the main focus of an activity still considered to be only for men. From the beginning of the human – wine culture relationship, we already found women related to wine culture. But society has not valued these women experts in the wine creation art. However, since a couple of decades ago they have started to be recognized and its work highly valued.
This project aims to bring up to the general public the current role of women in wines through a visible, personal and unique way. It has shown the different roles and positions that women occupy in the wine industry but, always with a common ground: the love for wine. It reflects the women involved in the process of wine life: farmhand, grape picker, chemist, vineyard or winery foreperson, winery labourer, oenologist, sommellier, old wine shop manager, salesperson, guide, owner…
This project has raised awareness about the number of positions occupied by unstoppable women. They love their work and bring something different to the wine, leaving their unique mark.
Ours has been a research work. Near 100 women from the world of wine have been selected (working women in wineries from el Marco, from wine cellars of Cadiz and businesswomen dedicated to this world) for photo shoots that will compile “the essence of women” in this sector. They show their passion for wine, the dedication for their profession, the care with which they carry out their work to bring it their soul, their essence, their personality to enhance the qualities of wine.
The starting point of the exhibition was the Wine Harvest Festival in September. But, before, an official presentation of the exposition was carried out, taking place on the 5th of September in “Los Jándalos” Hotel from Jerez de la Frontera.
Then, a series of activities related to the project were conducted. This way, women were given the prominence they deserve. In addition, a women’s round table and wine tasting led by women was organized in the following days of the exhibition. The ROUND TABLE for women took place on the 6th of September at “Los Jándalos” Hotel (Jerez de la Frontera). It consisted of free assistance until reaching full capacity. The WINE TASTING led by women was held on the 7th of September at the same location (“Los Jándalos” Hotel from Jerez de la Frontera). For this activity, it was necessary to purchase a 12 euro ticket per person (requested in advanced through the email of JONOCLA FOTOGRAFÍA: info@jonoclafotografia.com).
