Dates of the Sanlucar Horse Races 2019
This event will take place during the next month of August. Following tradition, the festival will be divided into two parts. Each part will be 3 days, always at sunset. The first part will take place on the 9, 10 and 11 of August, and the second part on the 25, 26 and 27 of August. These dates are determined mainly by the tidal calendar. As thoroughbreds run along the beach shoreline, there must be a good low tide during those days that allows the horses to run smoothly.
But, what are the horse races on the beach?
Since 1845, the beaches of Sanlucar have annually hosted these races, considered since 1997 a Festival of International Tourist Interest. These races create even more excitement every year. Visitors will be able to enjoy 23 races divided into two cycles at sunset, from 6:30 p.m. approximately. A few days of joy and happiness for the people of Sanlucar, who enjoy together with thousands of tourists from all over the world the beautiful sunsets of its beaches and the excitement and expectation generated by some of the best riders with their horses.
