Zahara has beaches for all the tastes
La Virgen del Carmen Beach or Zahara de los Atunes Beach is the closest to the village center. This beach is perfect for your family vacations, but also for practicing water sports. It is over 1,5 kilometres long and offers all the services. This is a lovely beach, with very fine golden sands and clear turquoise water. During the hottest part of the day, you can find shelter in one of its beach bars. An attraction that makes this beach unique is the steamboat Gibralfaro that sunk at the beginning of the last century and that gives a special feel to the panoramic views of the Zahara de los Atunes Beach.
Atlanterra Beach is also very family friendly. This beach extends over almost 3 kilometres of golden sands, a little less fine than in La Virgen del Carmen Beach. It is the biggest one in Zahara. Surrounded by rocks, this is another beach that offers all the services you might need. This place also allows the lovers of surfto enjoy their favourite sport. Those looking for something a little less usual, can take a long horse ride on Atlanterra.
Los Alemanes Beach or Cabo de Plata Beach is one of the most popular of the province. It is a beautiful cove 1,5 kilometres long. Los Alemanes Beach is a bit more difficult to reach and unlike the first two, it does not offer the beachgoers any services. But it’s definitely the best one if you want to prevent the wind from ruining your vacations. Between its rocks, you can take a dip in natural pools. It is also a perfect place for divers.
The Cañuelo Beach is a small unspoiled cove, pretty hard to reach. You can’t get to this beach by car, but this only means that it preserves an even more natural environment, popular amongst the nudists. The peaceful atmosphere of this cove is beyond comparison, making the Cañuelo an ideal place for those who enjoy a relaxing day in nature.
One last piece of advice. If you are spending your holidays in Zahara de los Atunes, don’t miss out on its restaurants. Between the months of April and June, you can try the mouthwatering red tuna from Zahara , prepared in a traditional way, as well as other local specialties that will steal your heart .
