Torrox belongs to the Axarquía region. Thanks to its eternal spring characterized by its mild weather with average annual temperatures of 18 ºC and the great atmosphere of its surroundings, it was declared “the town with the best climate in Europe”.

It is divided into Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo. In fact, there are only 4 kilometres between the two areas but, they are well-connected to each other. Torrox Pueblo is the Old Town, the oldest area where you will find most of the history and monuments. On the other hand, Torrox Costa is the most touristic area where you also have the opportunity to enjoy its weather.

Regarding its history, the Phoenicians are known to be the first settlers of this town from Malaga, and later the Romans, who developed the fishing and commercial industry in the area. Later, it was occupied by the Arabs, transforming the area into the gathering centre of silk. This product would later be sent to the cities of Malaga and Granada. Torrox was conquered by the Crown of Castille in 1488.
