A route through the Taverns and Tabancos in Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera is known worldwide for its bullfighting and equestrian tradition, for its motor racing, for flamenco, for its gastronomy and of course for its wineries and wines.

The tabancos are the wine offices of the old part of the city of Jerez and are an interesting alternative to the typical bars of the area. Here the wines are served in butts, as well as being able to enjoy typical products such as chacinas (cold cuts), local cheeses, acorn-fed Iberian products and homemade preserves.

The best known tabancos are Plateros, Calidad en Boca, El Guitarrón de San Pedro, Tabankino, Damajuana Cafe Bar and La Taperia el Fundador.

Besides enjoying the excellent local gastronomy and the typical products of the area, some of these places host flamenco shows or zambombas, being a great tourist attraction in the Province of Cadiz and Andalusia.

All visitors to Jerez de la Frontera fall in love with its beautiful streets, which reflect the rich culture, listen to the magnificent flamenco and smell the delicious dishes and wines.
