WHAT TO SEE IN BENALUP – CASAS VIEJAS?

Benalup-Casas Viejas is a Spanish municipality that is part of the Province of Cádiz. It is famous for the Casas Viejas Incident (tragic event during the Second Spanish Republic). It is a town in which there is much to visit due to its geographical location, close to Los Alcornocales Natural Park. However, it is unknown to many despite being endowed with a rich historical heritage. Benalup was a municipality participating in one of the worst major events of the Second Spanish Republic, being reflected in its streets.

In the town you can visit religious buildings, such as the Church of Nuestra Señora del Socorro with various styles of architecture. In the outskirts of Benalup you can visit the ruins of an Arab castle and prehistoric sites, highlighting the importance of the Tajo de las Figuras site.
