The Best Museums – Exhibion Centres in the Province of Cadiz
50 Places

If you are an enthusiast of museums, where you can personally discover the history of a city, the province of Cadiz is the ideal place. It has more than 3,000 years of history and it has been home, for long periods of time, to different people and civilisations: Phoenicians, Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and Christians. So, important pieces representing these periods are found in various archaeological museums.

Besides, exhibition centres are increasingly important in the province of Cadiz, where different artists show their works of different styles.

As we mentioned before, there is a great variety of museums in the province: those where we can see ancient history, such as the Historical Museum of Cadiz and Las Cortes Museum. There are others about Mythology, Flamenco and the main wines and everything related to them.

Regarding the main artists whose works are displayed in the museums, we must mentioned Zurbarán, Murillo and Alonso Cano. Their works allow us to discover the Baroque architecture of the sixteenth century in the Museum of Cadiz. The province was also home to other important artists’ works from the first half of the twentieth century, such as Sorolla, Zuloaga or Abarzuza; or emblematic leading figures from Cadiz like Alberti or Pérez Villalta.
