We know that summarising Seville in just five monuments and sights is, at least, risky. Why? Because we all agree that what makes Seville one of the most beautiful cities in Spain is the large number of impressive monuments it houses. However, on TUDESTINO we will dare to summarise them in just five. They are, undoubtedly, the most striking and the most visited ones when it comes to enjoying the city a few hours, either due to a stopover or an express business trip.
- PLAZA DE ESPAÑA (“SPAIN SQUARE”)
- PARQUE DE MARÍA LUISA (“MARIA LUISA PARK”)
- TORRE DEL ORO (+ GUADALQUIVIR RIVER)
- ROYAL ALCAZAR OF SEVILLE
- SEVILLE CATHEDRAL (+ GIRALDA)
1. PLAZA DE ESPAÑA
Plaza de España must be on all the itineraries of all the people who visit Seville. Whether you go on holidays for a week, on a weekend getaway, if you have a stopover of a couple of hours, if you are living in Seville and, on Sunday morning, the bakery is near Plaza de España … Whatever the reason you are in Seville, this impressive plaza will always welcome you with open arms.
2. PARQUE DE MARÍA LUISA
If there is a green area in Seville that stands out for its majesty, this is the Parque de María Luisa. Next to Plaza de España, this beautiful park receives hundreds of visitors and residents every day. All those who come do so attracted by its leafy trees, its magical spots and by the fact of being able to enjoy a moment of calm outdoors. We are sure that spending time in a place like this has many health benefits. Having a haven of peace in the very centre of Seville is priceless (we not only say it metaphorically, but also literally 😉 ).
3. TORRE DEL ORO (+ GUADALQUIVIR RIVER)
Walking close to Torre del Oro is essential to get to know one of the most beautiful areas of Seville. The urban promenade that you will find along the Guadalquivir River will allow you to walk along the river and observe the colourful houses of Betis street, in Triana, on the other side. Walk unhurried; we assure you that this will be the moment you will most appreciate when visiting Seville. Without a doubt, the most repeated hashtag here will be #nofilters.
4. ROYAL ALCAZAR OF SEVILLE
If there is a monument that steals all hearts, that is the Royal Alcazar of Seville. This impressive palace complex gives off beauty inside and out. You will be amazed with every stay you visit and you will not have enough words to express the majesty of its gardens. It’s not for nothing that it was used as a set for the successful “Game of Thrones” series! If you are thinking about visiting the Royal Alcazar (seriously, you should), buy the ticket very early at the box office if possible (or just do it online). This way, you will avoid being in endless queues that will make you lose a lot of time.
5. SEVILLE CATHEDRAL (+ GIRALDA)
The Seville Cathedral is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. In addition, it also won the title of “Best Cathedral in Spain”. Of course, we cannot forget about the Giralda, one of the most emblematic monuments of Seville city. We recommend you climb (as long as you are not afraid of heights) so you can enjoy wonderful views of Seville at nothing more and nothing less than 97.5 metres high!
As we said at the beginning, Seville is much more than these five monuments, but it would not be what it is if one of them was missing. On TUDESTINO we assure you that, after seeing and visiting these five sights, you will be looking forward to returning to Seville soon!
