Churches
This city has great religious customs, as it has a considerable number of churches scattered throughout the city. However, like any big city, it has one that is more important than the rest: the Jerez de la Frontera Cathedral. Located in the city centre, it is a mandatory stop as it is the most relevant temple in the region (as well as majestic and beautiful). You can also visit the Church of San Miguel, Santo Domingo Cloisters or La Cartuja. The latter is located on the highway, so to get there you need a vehicle.
Alcázar de Jerez fortress
Located in the city centre, it is an Arab fortress. You will visit its Patio de Armas, the mosque, the oil mill, the baths, its towers and its archaeological zone, among other rooms. We recommend visiting it as it is located near the Cathedral and it is a beautiful place that also contains a lot of history.
Museums
This urban center has a wide variety of museums throughout the city. One of those you should not miss is the Archaeological Museum, where you will learn the evolution of the city throughout history. We can also find the Enganche Museum, where you will see the different types of carriages and breed horses. In turn, we find the Museum of Equestrian Art. This one reveals how the relationship between humans and horses arised and how it has been evolving. Finally, near these two museums is La Atalaya Museum, in which inside you will find the Palacio del Tiempo. The latter exhibits antique watches and unique pieces.
Wineries
Jerez has a great wine tradition. Therefore, its wineries are the object of desire and knowledge of tourists. You will not imagine the large number of wineries in the town! In addition to visiting the facilities of these buildings, you can also enjoy a tasting of their wide variety of wines with the possibility of also eating snacks or food. We recommend you to visit Bodegas Lustau, Bodegas William & Humbert or Bodegas Fundador . You will not forget the experience nor the flavours!
We hope that during your time in Jerez de la Frontera you do not hesitate to visit these places to soak up the culture of the city. Enjoy this wine city!
