Do you feel like knowing El Puerto de Santa María in a totally different and sustainable way? Find out step by step how to carry out the Circular bike route.
We start at the Reception and Information Centre (CRI) and head towards the old N-IV road to cross it. Take the cycle path to Calderón Park by the pedestrian bridge that leads us to the historic centre. We head towards Micaela Aramburu Avenue, passing through Plaza El Polvorista and continue along Aurora Street. At the end of this street, we go to the left to take the Paseo de La Bajamar, towards the coast. We arrive at the cycle lane of Paseo de La Puntilla, which connects with the Paseo de El Aculadero and Puerto Sherry. At the end of this stretch of cycle lane, we continue along the road that surrounds the residential area of this marina to take Paseo de La Muralla. We cross the car park of this beach and we join the cycle path that will take us along the Paseo Antonio Ariza Cañadillas.
At this point of the Circular route we can make a stop to see the Walls, ruins of the old Castle of Santa Catalina. We continue to the beach of La Calita and, from there, we take Luis Suarez Rodriguez Street. We continue along Eduardo and Felipe Osborne Avenue and, after passing two roundabouts, turn towards Club Mediterráneo Avenue. At the end of this road, Azucena street leads us to the Mochicle pine forest and back to the beach. Entering the pine forest, on our right we find a pedestrian access that we will cross to exit to the Océano Índico street. We turn left at the first intersection towards Mar Adriático Street. This will take us to a roundabout, where we will find the first point of control seal: the Bar Talega tapas bar.
Next, we continue with the Circular route taking the second exit on Océano Pacífico Street. From here, at the second roundabout we meet, we leave this street to take the third exit. We go in the direction of Mar Báltico Street, which will take us to the Paseo de El Ancla. We follow this walk until the end, leaving it on Cornamusa Street until the roundabout, where we will take the third exit towards Popa Street. This will leave us in the cycle lane of the CA-603 road, former road from El Puerto to Rota, where we will turn left, towards Rota.
We follow the cycle path until we reach the entrance of the residential areas of El Manantial and Fuentebravía. Cross the pedestrian crossing towards the roundabout and continue heading towards Rota. Then we will see a service road that starts on our right, and that stays parallel to the main road. We will take it straight ahead, passing through a section of a path behind some commercial greenhouses. We follow the paved road until we connect with the roundabout that crosses the main road, whose service road will lead us back to our Circular roads. The exit of the second roundabout towards the road is made on the left, following parallel to the road (at a lower level), until an access indicated on the right.
Straight ahead, we cross a road and continue straight (with a somewhat diverted connection to the right). Before reaching the road, we leave the last lane to the right, which will make us cross the road to El Puerto-Sanlúcar. We then enter a path that takes us directly to the irrigation canal road. From this road we will leave at a first turnoff, indicated to the right, entering through residential areas (La Caridad and El Tomillar, among others). To the right of our passage will be the temporary lagoon of San Bartolomé (you have to deviate to see it), until you reach the second point of control seal: the Bar Pinillo tapas bar.
