If there is something in common between the municipalities that make up the Bay of Cadiz is an exquisite gastronomy based on fresh fish and seafood. They have a huge amount of healthy and first-class products such as olive oils, vegetables, hunt meats… The gastronomy from the Bay of Cadiz is a real pleasure for the palate.
Without a doubt, the star product of our cuisine. From the Bay of Cadiz, we get fish such as sole, gilthead, liza, spotted seabass, dogfish or sea bass that are the protagonists of infinite typical recipes of this land. Thus, we find such traditional dishes as the dogfish with tomato, sea bream made as in Rota, mackerel noodles, potatoes with fried cuttlefish or mackerel with piriñaca salad. The piriñaca salad is a very typical accompaniment in Cadiz for many fish and seafood dishes. It is nothing but onion, green pepper and tomato, chopped and seasoned with olive oil, salt and vinegar.
Without forgetting, of course, about our well-known fried pescaíto. You can buy it in any fried-fish shop and take it to the beach, for example, or eat it in any bar, restaurant or beach bar.
Our seafood is also of renowned fame. You can go to the beaches of Cádiz on low-tide days and stroll along the rocks to see the species you can find. Shrimp, mussels, oysters, crabs, langoustine, prawns, clams, wedge clam, purple dye murex or mantis shrimp. These are some of the seafood that you will be able to try in the Bay of Cadiz.

In addition to our exquisite fish and seafood, the gastronomy from Bay of Cadiz endures with traditional dishes. Ropa vieja (a dish made of the leftovers from the stew), stews, fried peppers, Russian salad, potatoes with alioli, salmorejo, pork rinds. Hot dishes and stews such as oxtail, Spanish oyster thistle, vegetable soups made of collard greens or fish (dogfish, sea bass or monkfish usually), Andalusian tripes and endless etcetera.
Moreover, in bars, restaurants and beach bars from the Bay of Cadiz you will be able to put into practise one of the favourite activities of those from Cadiz, especially in good weather: to eat tapas on the terraces.
Products from the province
Although they do not belong to the Bay of Cadiz, in any of the municipalities you will be able to find all kinds of local products from the province. Fine, oloroso or amontillado wine from the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Designation of Origin, products from our land such as payoyo cheese, Iberian sausages and oil, hunt meats and breeds such as retinto, sweets such as the alfajores from Medina Sidonia, the tuna almadraba from Barbate…
The symbol of these many products is its quality that you can enjoy anywhere in the province of Cadiz.

The Bay of Cadiz has dozens of beach bars at the beachfront where you can eat or cool off with spectacular views of the sea. Bars where to eat tapas at a very good price and restaurants where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. You will find them both in the Old Towns of the cities as in promenades or new areas of the Bay.
But also, we cannot forget a very peculiar establishment in our land. In ventas, usually located on roads, the tradition and character are impressive. In them, you will be able to try dishes that have lasted over the years.
