The Salinas y Marismas de Trebujena hiking trail (“Trebujena’s Salt Evaporation Ponds and Marshes”) links the urban centre of Trebujena with the Doñana National Park on a route from the countryside to the salt evaporation ponds and marshes. This route has a great ornithological attraction, since you can see almost 3,000 birds of about 40 different species.
You can get there from Trebujena by the road that takes you to the Guadalquivir. The route passes through the Guadalquivir quay, crossing the left part of the river through the Seno de Esparraguera, leaving some marshes on your left. Trebujena has about 7,000 inhabitants and it is not a big town. Its neighbouring towns, on the part of Cádiz, are Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda; and, on the part of Seville, it borders with Lebrija.
Making the Salinas y Marismas de Trebujena route, you will pass through the Guadalquivir River, the Salinas de Nuestra Señora del Rocío, the quay, a bird watching point, the Punta de los Cepillos. The Salinas de Monte Algaida, a fish farm, the Pinar de Monte Algaida, the Hermitage of Our Lady of Carmen, the Marsh of Adventus, the quay 2 and the Cortijo de Adventus. You will finish the route in the municipality of Trebujena, where you can spend the afternoon there and learn more about this town.
